Mark Church of England First School is situated in the Somerset Levels
The school is a friendly family orientated institution and we are proud of our church foundation. Our aim is to treat children as individuals who will become 'turned on' to learning at an early age and achieve their full potential. We provide an excellent environment for children to grow and learn, encouraging independence, enjoyment and enthusiasm. We are committed to providing a curriculum that encourages children to be creative and involves all areas of learning.
We have very strong support from our governors, parents, church and members of the community. We are constantly seeking to enhance the educational opportunities we offer the children. Working together, we have been able, for instance, to raise a significant amount of money to install an ICT suite for children and community use.
The school is split into five single year group classes and we currently have 144 pupils. Class size varies between 24 and 31 children. Each class has its own classroom and our main hall serves as the gym, dinning hall and space for collective worship, drama, dance and music.
We have a strong Christian foundation which is reflected in all that we do.
We also have been awarded a 'Gold Artsmark' from the Arts council which acknowledges our outstanding arts teaching. Performing, music making and art are used to help provide a rich varied and exciting curriculum. Mark First School perform their summer show 'The Wonderful World of Water'
