15 Oct 2007 - Year 3's report on their school trip to Nothe Fort
Year 3's report on their school trip:-
OUR TRIP
On Monday the 15th October year 3 and year 4 from Mark First School went to Nothe Fort. We went there because we were pretending to be Evacuees.
We went to Nothe Fort because we were studying about world war two.
We dressed up as evacuees.
I liked the school best
because they had desks
made of wood. I saw an
inkwell. It looked as
if it was a pencil pot.
I also saw a black out
blind.
CLOTHES WASHING AT NOTHE FORT
There were dolly pegs which the children
used to play with. The lady pretended that the pegs were Germans sneaking up on our
grand parents.

The washing dolly was strange because I splashed myself . After that you have to wiggle the dolly to get the soap out of the clothes.
The Anderson Shelter
IN THE SHELTER IT WAS DARK AND SMALL. The School
In the school the teacher was really strict.
The rationing shop
I liked it the best when the man let us see the coins. I liked this because I'd never seen the coins that they used in the war.
They did not have electric scales in those days and they had ration books.
Water pumps
We had to pump the water out of the bucket to put the fire out.
IT WAS CRAMPED AND MADE OF METAL.
I LEARNT THAT THEY HAD NEWSPAPER FOR TOILET PAPER.
THE TOILET WAS A BUCKET .
THEY HAD TO LIGHT A LANTERN TO KEEP THEMSELVES WARM .
The teacher did times tables with us and it was fun.
The inkwells were on the desks and the
desks were wooden.
The best thing about school was writing
to my mum.
